Wits SRC reach R1mil in two weeks
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Wits University Student Representative Council has raised R1mil to help 2788 students register.
The students were unable to register due to a lack of funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
SRC president Mcebo Dlamini says as the SRC they have outdone themselves.
"When we consolidated, we discovered that we have outdone ourselves by managing to raise R1mil in just two weeks," he says.
The campaign "One Million, One month" was launched in February under a humanitarian fund started by the SRC in 2010.
The money was raised from individual donors, NGOs and private companies.
Amid the celebration Dlamini however says the money is not enough.
