ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says the woman was hit by a car at the Solomon Mahlangu and Garsfontein intersection on Tuesday evening.

“Paramedics arrived at 17h36 to find the woman lying in the middle of the road. On assessment, medics found that the woman had sustained injuries to her legs and back, leaving her in a serious condition.

“The woman was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before being airlifted by a private medical helicopter to Steve Biko Provincial Hospital for urgent care,” says Meiring.

The vehicle that had stuck the woman was not on scene when paramedics arrived.
