Woman dragged and killed by taxi in Ladysmith
Updated | By ANA
A 27-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning after she was hit and dragged by a taxi on Yellow Street in Ezakeni Industrial area in Ladysmith, KwaZulu Natal, ER24 said.
Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson, paramedics were alerted of the tragic incident by a local security company.
“On arrival, they found the patient lying on the side of the road surrounded by a number of curious members of public,” said Meiring.
“ER24 paramedics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained a number of fatal injuries. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene.”
It is believed that the driver failed to notice the pedestrian crossing the busy road.
“Witnesses on scene said that the woman was pulled from beneath the vehicle by members of the public.”
Local authorities are investigating the matter, but it was unclear if the taxi driver had been arrested.
