Woman robbed in central Johannesburg

A man was arrested after a woman was robbed of her cellphone in central Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Thursday.
Warrant officer Xoli Mbele said the 53-year-old woman was robbed on Wednesday afternoon at the corner of Commissioner and Von Weilligh streets.
"She felt someone putting his hand into her handbag and take her cellphone. She screamed for help and the security came to her rescue and chased a suspect."
The police joined the security guards and a 26-year-old man was arrested. He was charged with common robbery.
"The cellphone was not recovered. Investigation is under way and the suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court."
