The South African Space Agency (SANSA) is offering South Africans the opportunity to travel to Antarctica for free.

According to the SANSA website, the trip will be from approximately the beginning of December 2019 till the end of February 2020.

"Any individual interested in an experience of a lifetime, with some scientific/engineering background, may apply for this opportunity," says SANSA.

There will be no payment made to the chosen people, but all their expenses will be paid, starting from Cape Town.

As the trip occurs under harsh conditions and hard physical labour has to be executed, candidates must be physically fit and mentally strong.

Background verification, including criminal record, credit checks, security clearances, qualification and citizenship checks, as well as competency assessment and psychometric testing, may form part of the selection process.

Applicants need to send their detailed CV (indicating in the subject line of your email Antarctica Take-over 2019/20) and a covering letter summarising the reasons for applying to  [email protected]  and cc [email protected] by 25 September 2019.
