Zimbabwe first lady charged with assault
Two cases of assault have been opened by two women against Grace Mugabe.
The police are investigating a common assault charge and a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The women allege that they were sitting with Mugabe's sons at a Sandton hotel at about 9pm on Sunday and Grace approached them and started assaulting them without provocation.
According to reports, Grace attacked one woman with an extension cord. The woman suffered head injuries and bruises on her body. Grace came to South Africa to seek medical attention.
Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi Malobane has condemned the alleged assault.
"I have instructed the Law Enforcement Agencies to investigate this case accordingly and ensure that justice is served" Nkosi- Malobane said.
The MEC says police are trying to get hold of Grace and her two sons, but their phones off.
"Mugabe's sons have been in South Africa for more than three months we will be able to trace them. We do not know whether she [Grace] is still in the country, our hope is that she is still here" Nkosi-Malobane said.
