Speaking at his party's first anniversary celebrations at the Moses Mabida stadium in Durban, Zuma again alleged vote-rigging in the May national and provincial elections and emphasised unity and fairness in governance.

“Let us unite so we can get overwhelming votes in the upcoming 2026 local government election," Zuma said.

"We need to reclaim our country and votes.

"I am optimistic that we have a strong case against those we are taking to court for Electoral Court.

"They rigged and took our votes.

"They distributed our votes amongst themselves.

"They will lose this case."

Also speaking at the event, MK's deputy president John Hlope cautioned against internal divisions and criticised the ANC-DA government of national unity as an unholy alliance.

"This coalition, this so-called GNU, represents a pact with forces that have historically opposed economic justice, land reform and the empowerment of black South Africans," said Hlope.

Hlope also addressed claims that MK poaches members from other political parties.

“We are not in the business of stealing members from other parties, we do not poach.

"People get attracted to us, they like our policies, and we are not going to chase them away.

"Even the SG, Comrade Floyd Shivambu, he was not approached, he came to us and joined our party.

"We are not in the business of destroying other parties, we have nothing to benefit.

"But there is every reason for us to work in harmony with the other parties."
