Zuma has right to refuse examination by NPA doctors, says foundation

The Jacob Zuma's Foundation has confirmed that his lawyers are busy studying his medical report meant to determine his fitness to stand trial.
Spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi says the report was submitted on Friday by the military health services.
Zuma, who is serving a 15-month jail term for contempt of court, was admitted to hospital a month ago.
This has led to his corruption trial being postponed.
"On Friday the report was submitted to the court and the NPA has a copy of the report, as things stand, the NPA is still examining the report to be able to form a view on the report," said Manyi
He denied media reports that Zuma has refused to be examined by a medical professional appointed by the NPA.
"But I must add that the issue of examining anyone requires that person consent, so if behind the scenes it happened that doctors went there without his consent it would be out of order and the time was not correct and if President Zuma did refuse to be examined it is his right," added Manyi
The Pietermaritzburg High Court ordered that the NPA can appoint its own medical practitioner to examine whether Zuma was fit to stand trial.
Manyi says it is not the time for second opinions as the report is still being studied.
In February, the court rejected a letter submitted by Zuma's lawyers stating that he was too ill to stand trial.
Judge Dhaya Pillay rejected the note stating that the diagnosis was vague and did not have a date.
She also suggested that it was not clear whether the practitioner who authored the letter was a registered medical professional.
The NPA was not available for comment.
