The Presidency’s spokesperson, Bongani Ngqunlunga says President Zuma met with the commission yesterday.

“The most important thing the President told members of the Commission is that he will make sure where government is required to do something, those relevant departments are informed about what needs to be done,” says Ngqunlunga.

The commission’s recommendations include that all religious practitioners operating in South Africa be registered.

“The commission examined the recent upsurge of commercial churches in South Africa and the many reports of alleged abuse of the people's belief systems including eating grass as part of salvation,” Ngqunlunga says.
