Abrahams will have to keep the secret, on whether he will prosecute Zuma or not, until March 15.

The Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (Casac) asked Abrahams to wait until the Constitutional Court has pronounced on his future, before making pronouncement on whether Zuma will be prosecuted on 18 charges of corruption.

The court is set to hear arguments on Wednesday.

The National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Luvuyo Mfaku says Abrahams will respect Casac's request and only convey his decision after 14 court days.

"We have not set a date for the announcement of the decision. What the NDPP has done in the letter, which was despatched to CASAC, when you calculate from today if you count court days, the two week period will elapse on the March 15."

Abrahams received the memorandum outlining the recommendations by prosecutors working on the case on last Friday.

"He indicated that if they do not wave the two week period he would then after the expiry of period, advise the legal representatives of the former president and any other interested parties of his decision."

Reports at the weekend indicated that Abrahams has decided in favour of prosecuting the former president.
