Barcelona to keep F1 until 2032 in rotation with Spa
Updated | By AFP
Barcelona will host Formula One races in three of the next six years, the sport's organisers said Monday, joining a rotation with Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps.
The Montmelo circuit was in the final year of its contract but will host events in 2028, 2030 and 2032, with Spa running races in 2027, 2029 and 2031.
With Madrid due to host a race in 2026 and beyond, some believed Barcelona would not be retained as a venue beyond this year.
"Barcelona is an incredible city, and the Formula One fans there always welcome us with such passion, so I am delighted that we will continue to race (there) for years to come," said Formula One president Stefano Domenicali.
Formula One said they agreed a new deal with organisers at the circuit after "significant investment" in recent years there, including a new hospitality area and the installation of solar panels throughout the circuit.
