PSL to be played in Gauteng bio-bubble, date to be announced

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) says it has pencilled down a tentative date for the league to resume amid the Covid-19 lockdown.
The league halted games abruptly in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Government has since given the PSL the green light to resume training and matches.
PSL chairman Irvin Khoza told a media briefing on Monday that a date has been proposed to the South African Football Association (SAFA).
“We’ve set a date but we’ve sent it to SAFA and SAFA will be the one to come back and indicate.”
Khoza says the league needs 6 weeks to complete its fixtures.
“We have not announced the date in public. If there’s a date in public, it’s not our date because as the PSL we’ve never officially announced the date.”
Manchester City's European ban quashed on appeal
An initial fine of 30 million euros ($34 million, £27 million) was also reduced to 10 million euros on appeal. City were accused of deliberately inflating the value of income from sponsors with links to the Abu Dhabi United Group, also owned by City owner Sheikh Mansour, to avoid falling foul of financial fair play (FFP) regulations between 2012 and 2016.
The remaining games will be played in Gauteng with players and officials housed in a so-called bio-bubble.
“What we have provided as a solution was predicated by a medically safe risk to make sure that we play in an environment that can assist.
“Whoever goes into the bubble must be tested first. If you are positive, you cannot go into the bubble.”
He added: “There’s going to be continuous screening of players and officials, which is normal, but testing only happens twice. The first testing then the second testing 48-hours before you go to the bubble.”
Kaizer Chiefs are currently top of the Absa Premiership, while the Nedbank Cup is at the semifinal stage.
