The Absa Premiership is set to return this weekend with six fixtures scheduled across the country.

The pick of those match-ups is set for the FNB Stadium on Saturday night when defending champions Kaizer Chiefs host high-flying Mpumalanga Black Aces.

AmaZayoni are coached by former Amakhosi boss Muhsin Ertugral and are presently second on the table, marginally trailing Platinum Stars on goals scored.

They have been one of the outstanding teams so far this season and are yet to be beaten in both league and cup, with their main inspiration coming from another former Chiefs ace, striker Collins Mbesuma, who is the leading marksman in the country with five goals so far.

Steve Komphela’s Soweto side, meanwhile, are also unbeaten in 2015/16, although they have drawn the bulk of their games to presently sit in fifth position on the log ahead of their meeting with Aces.

The only other unbeaten team this term – along with the Mpumalanga side and Chiefs – are Dikwena and they play on Sunday this week, hosting MTN8 champions Ajax Cape Town at the Moruleng Stadium.

Stars coach Cavin Johnson has been delighted by the start they have made so far, although the former SuperSport United boss will be smarting from a 3-0 humbling by Chiefs in the Telkom Knockout last time out.

He is just hoping they can move on quickly by the time they face seventh-placed Ajax.

“A team that loses learn and move forward to create other avenues as well,” he said. “We are a team with a vision and we will certainly achieve our goals as set out by our management.”

In the only other game on Sunday, Mamelodi Sundowns will be desperate to continue their recovery from a poor start to the campaign when they play Polokwane City at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The Brazilians have won just three times in six games all campaign to sit in sixth place, while their opponents are presently 12th and have a history of conceding goals at will, particularly away from home.

The three remaining matches on Saturday are all spread through the afternoon and evening. First up is Lamontville Golden Arrows up against another high-flying team, Bloemfontein Celtic at Chatsworth Stadium.

Siwelele are third so far thanks to a 4-1-1 record, with their hosts also solidly placed eighth in what is their first season back since winning the National First Division (NFD) title last year.

Next up will be Chippa United against SuperSport United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, where the away side will be desperate to win, having last claimed three points on the opening day of the season.

Gordon Igesund’s men are a lowly 13th at present and the ex-Bafana Bafana coach is under heavy pressure to win against a Chilli Boys side placed four positions above them.

Finally on Saturday, Bidvest Wits will go top should they beat winless Jomo Cosmos at Bidvest Stadium and both Celtic and Aces above them drop points.

The Students have gone about their business quietly so far, but are among the early pace-setters, while Ezenkosi are second-bottom on the standings.
