Alleged attempted kidnapping in Johannesburg on camera

Johannesburg isn't even safe anymore - watch this shocking kidnapping attempt caught on video.
A video surfaced online of a white Toyota Avanza driving in what seems like a residential area in Johannesburg. In the video, the vehicle comes to an immediate stop, reverses and opens it's passenger door, after spotting two pedestrians.
The pedestrian started running away from the vehicle which made it difficult for the alleged culprits to do anything sinister.

Conflicting reports are emerging and some Twitter users are saying that this incident is an attempted kidnapping while others say it was an attempted cell phone theft.
Either way, it seems like the two pedestrians were in grave danger, watch the video:
