ANC MPL Rachel Windvogel turned to Speaker Daylin Mitchell to question whether the Premier's attire was suitable for the chamber.

"Speaker, I just want you to rule on the dress code of the Premier. Is it acceptable in this House?" Windvogel asked.

However, the Speaker was not interested in acting as the fashion police. Mitchell dismissed the objection almost immediately, defending the Premier's right to choose his attire.

"Firstly, that is not a point of order," Mitchell stated.

"I think we as an institution have gone past the point where we are prescriptive and dictatorial about how people are dressed, as long as persons respect the decorum of the House, and the Premier is absolutely doing so."
