Another massive sinkhole expanding in Centurion

Motorists have been warned to avoid Second Avenue in Laudium, Centurion, where a massive sinkhole has formed.
This latest sinkhole that has formed in Centurion has led to the closure of Second Avenue in Laudium.
According to Pretoria Rekord, the large sinkhole is approximately 12m deep.
Motorists and pedestrians have been urged to use alternative routes, such as Pendant Road and Fifth Avenue, following the road closure.

Video footage of the large sinkhole has also been shared on social media.

Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo stated that the cause of the sinkhole has not yet been determined.
"The road is currently closed off with danger tape and will be further secured with barricades," said Mashigo.

"The public is urged to make use of alternative roads and avoid viewing the sinkhole, as it is still growing."
Mashigo added that a budget of R14.5 million has been allocated to fix sinkholes in Region 4.
