"Remember that date, it's 26/26," said Hill-Lewis.

"This event will be the flagship first event to make sure the rest of the world and the UFC, whoever needs to see, understands that we in South Africa, and more specifically the City of Cape Town, can make these events happen," said du Plessis.

According to the announcement, this event will see local Cape Town mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters go up against the world.

"Cape Town's best will defend home soil against challengers from around the world."

Du Plessis added that this event will not only be great for South Africa and Cape Town, but also for African athletes.
