Renewing your car licence disc just got a whole lot easier…
Gone are the days of having to wait in line for hours to renew your car licence disc.

Introducing South Africa's new vehicle licence renewal drive-through.
According to BusinessTech, the City of Cape Town has launched this first-of-its-kind initiative to make licensing services more convenient.
The new drive-through is located on the corner of Reservoir and Kruispad Roads in Brackenfell and will make it possible for motorists to renew their vehicle licence discs from the comfort of their cars.

Services will be available from Monday to Friday, 11:30 to 19:30, and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 14:30.
The City is reportedly working on extending operating hours on weekdays.
"Once finalised, the new times will be shared with the public. Over the coming months, we will be exploring other suitable drive-through facilities," it said.
Although this drive-through is currently only for motor vehicle licence renewals, other services and innovations could roll out in the future.
These are expected to be introduced in 2026.
Motorists should note that this facility will not accept cash transactions. Only debit and credit card payments will be accepted.

"Now you can simply drive up, pay by card, receive your new disc, and be on your way," the City said.
"Our initial tests indicate that the renewal process in the drive-through could take a motorist less than five minutes to complete if all paperwork is correct. Motorists who received a renewal notice via SMS need only show the SMS."
