Spotify is turning 20, and the streaming giant is marking its birthday with new features and a brand-new logo.

Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s)

As part of the 20th celebration, the streaming giant has launched "Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s)", a new in-app feature that gives users a deep dive into their entire listening history since the day they joined.

Similar to the annual Spotify Wrapped, it looks at users’ listening stats, but instead of only looking at the past twelve months, this feature goes all the way back to the very first song you streamed.

It also highlights your all-time top artists and the tracks that have defined your years on the platform.

To make it even more personal, there’s a built-in mini quiz based on your first-ever play, turning your data into a digital music archive.

Spotify has made the feature available to free and Premium users, which is a big deal considering how different the two experiences usually are.

The new logo

The celebrations also came with a new logo.

On 13 May, Spotify replaced its minimalist green logo with a sparkling green disco ball.

The new design was meant to evoke the two-decade celebration, but unfortunately users weren’t too happy.

Social media was flooded with backlash, with many subscribers describing the new look as "unattractive".

There were a few, however, who enjoyed the new logo, with many saying they liked seeing an app icon that wasn’t boring.

The logo is temporary

If you’re one of the people who doesn’t like the logo, don’t worry.

Spotify has confirmed that the disco ball is just a temporary affair.

The company has assured fans that the glittery look will be swapped back to the original, classic app icon later this week.
