Heinz Winckler has launched his own youth movement, which stands for faith, family, and freedom.

According to Netwerk24, One80 was inspired by the murdered American activist Charlie Kirk's organisation, Turning Point USA.

Winckler said the movement was created "in response to Kirk’s sacrifice and its impact worldwide", and that the movement is "formed in and for South Africa, but open to grow in Africa and beyond".

By Monday morning, 3 November, almost 500 people had already registered for the movement.

The singer and preacher stated that family values are the main reason for the movement.

Winckler said he has also gathered directors to register a non-profit organisation.

"So within the next week or two, we should have the entity registered, and then we can start putting the structures in place," he says.

"Our country has for some time been moving in a negative direction when it comes to healthy moral values, and it starts with the basic things, like marriage, family, and home circumstances," he says.

"If you look at statistics, it's very clear that there is a direct correlation between absent fathers in all forms, higher crime rates, and teenage pregnancies, as well as people leaving school at an earlier age. All those things are connected. Our country has a fatherlessness rate of 65% where there is physically no father in the home. The other third, basically, is a minimal part that has relatively healthy circumstances, because you may have a father in the home, but there are other problems."

"Along with that, we have universities, most of which started as Christian institutions, but over the decades, unfortunately, have become the home of radical ideologies that have moved away from their original goals," he says.

"What you now have on campuses in our country is very similar to America. Children are not being educated; they are being indoctrinated, and then we see the results of that: activists who fight for very strong leftist opinions, not just stand for them, but fight hard for them. All these things have a negative impact on our country as a whole, and especially on our children."

He says that young children’s thinking is still being formed.

"If they don't receive it at home in a healthy, balanced way, they will trust the institutions they go to, assuming they have the right information, and then they think that is the right information."

"Over time, you have all these things that together make an impact, and I think that's what we're seeing: activists in prominent places of influence, which unfortunately have very negative consequences. That’s one of the reasons why I and others feel it’s necessary to start a movement: to unite people who are already doing good work and standing for the same values. I call them like-minded people in some way. We don’t want to reinvent the wheel; we would rather align what is already good."

Winckler said that the newly formed organisation wants to "stand up for Biblical values, marriage, and the family, according to God", similar to Kirk's movement.

"We believe these are the healthy building blocks for society. They always have been and always will be. Therefore, we stand for faith, family, freedom. And yes, I copied and pasted that from Turning Point, because I think it is good, healthy, and necessary that we also stand for that."

In an Instagram post, Winckler said, "Charlie and Turning Point inspires me, yes, but my allegiance and focus is to serve the living God and to live a life of purpose."

"South Africa as a whole is not heading a strong, healthy direction. Positive change is needed."
