"With heavy hearts, we share the news that Brad Arnold, founder, lead singer, and songwriter of 3 Doors Down, passed away on Saturday, 7 February, at the age of 47," the statement said.

Arnold passed away peacefully, with his wife, family and loved ones by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Speaking about the tragic death, Breakfast with Martin Bester praised Arnold for his amazing vocal talent.

"These songs defined a generation," said Martin Bester.

According to the BBC, the 3 Doors Down singer and drummer announced in May 2025 that he had received a diagnosis of stage 4 clear cell renal carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer which had also spread to his lung.

In its statement, the band said Brad "was a devoted husband to Jennifer, and his kindness, humour and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him".

"As a founding member, vocalist and original drummer of 3 Doors Down, Brad helped redefine mainstream rock music, blending post-grunge accessibility with emotionally direct songwriting and lyrical themes that resonated with everyday listeners."
