Winter is in full swing, and although some areas have enjoyed warm, sunny days, most parts of South Africa experience freezing temperatures in the early mornings and at night.

Luckily, South Africa is a country with diverse landscapes and a wide range of climates, meaning there are destinations that remain warm even during winter.

According to IOL, there are seven destinations across South Africa where people can visit to enjoy warmer weather.

On Friday, 10 July, Breakfast with Martin Bester did a live broadcast from The Ranch in Polokwane.

The broadcast forms part of Martin Bester and Round Table's Warm Fees, where Martin and his band travel across South Africa to perform and collect blankets for those in need during the cold winter months.

For the Limpopo Warm Fees, Martin and his band, along with guest artist Dirk van der Westhuizen, will perform at The Ranch on Friday night.

Two Limpopo destinations also made the list of places where people can stay warm during winter.

Marakele National Park, Limpopo

Winter is prime time for spotting the Big Five, as the dry bushveld brings wildlife to the waterholes for easy viewing. Don't miss the breathtaking sight of endangered Cape vultures soaring over the Waterberg Mountains from the Lenong Viewpoint.

Tshipise Village, Limpopo

Living up to its name, which means "something warm", Tshipise Village offers natural geothermal hot springs that are the ultimate winter wellness treat.

It is the perfect sunny base for exploring ancient baobab trees or taking a quick trip into the northern Kruger National Park.

Other destinations

Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal

Escape to the Dolphin Coast for subtropical vibes and the chance to spot humpback whales right from the shore. It is the ultimate winter playground, with world-class surfing swells and a vibrant beachfront atmosphere to keep the energy high.
