This is the most South African thing you will see today.
A KwaZulu-Natal man is taking over TikTok after a video surfaced of him having the absolute time of his life performing a South African song.
The man became an overnight sensation as he performed the classic hit 'Nkalakatha’ by the late Mandoza, trying to nail it word for word.

Social media users were left stunned by the white South African’s dedicated performance of the classic.
In the clip, the man is seen giving a full-blown live performance, clearly enjoying every second of it.
People couldn’t help but be impressed by his obvious love for the local hit.

He definitely knew how to work the crowd while entertaining them with the Mandoza favourite.
Many viewers felt he was representing the best of South Africa in the video, which was shared on 28 February 2026.
The footage, uploaded by @clairecandicewalsh, captures him taking on ‘Nkalakatha’ in front of a crowd.
While he managed to mimic Mandoza’s signature gravelly voice perfectly, his isiZulu lyrics were completely butchered during the set.
Despite having the cadence down, the actual words didn’t quite land.

Most South Africans found the man’s passionate singing absolutely hilarious.
While many were entertained, some users wished he had taken the time to actually learn the lyrics to the 2000 hit.
Decades after its release, ‘Nkalakatha’ is still considered a type of national anthem for South Africans everywhere.
What South Africans had to say:
“Performing an iconic song without knowing the lyrics is disrespectful,” said one user.
“I’m annoyed… he could have learned the lyrics,” said another.
But most of the comments were positive and celebrated how hilarious the performance was.
“The voice is on point,” said one user.
“This is how I sing the national anthem during the Afrikaans part, but oom Jan never judged me,” said another.
“South Africa is the best country in the world.”
“People saying they don’t like it… did you realise he wasn’t performing for you? Anyway, it’s lit.”
