South Africans can now travel to this country visa-free
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
South Africa has added another country to the list of destinations residents can visit visa-free.
South Africa and Indonesia have officially introduced a mutual visa-free travel agreement.
Previously, South Africans travelling to Indonesia had to obtain a tourist visa on arrival by supplying proof of funds and accommodation and, in some cases, paying additional processing fees.

This announcement was made during the Indonesia–Africa CEO Forum in Johannesburg and marks a step forward for tourism, economic cooperation, trade and investment between the two countries.
Visa-free travel between the two regions removes paperwork, fees and waiting periods for South Africans and Indonesians wanting to visit the other country.
Tourism is one of the strongest motivations for this agreement, as South Africans can now visit the many natural and cultural landmarks Indonesia has to offer.
In turn, Indonesians can experience South Africa’s beaches, wildlife and cities.
There is also a strong focus on business.

The agreement encourages more economic and business activity as entrepreneurs, investors and professionals can now travel between the countries more smoothly.
According to the South African government, there are still a few barriers in place that are important to know.
1. Visa-free entry applies only to short visits
The agreement allows travellers to enter without a visa for tourism or brief business trips. Longer stays for work or study will still require the correct visa.
2. Passports must meet standard entry requirements
Your passport must be valid for at least six months and have empty pages available for entry stamps.
3. Airlines will ensure rules are followed
Before allowing passengers to board, airlines will verify that all travel documents meet the necessary requirements, even with visa-free travel.
4. Border officials may request additional documentation
Even though a visa is not required, travellers should be prepared to show return flight details, proof of accommodation or evidence of sufficient funds if authorities request it.
