WATCH: Terrifying moment bakkie plummets off cliff on Cape Town road
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
While it seems impossible, the driver reportedly walked away unscathed.
The incident, which was caught on CCTV, took place on Main Road in Misty Cliffs, near Kommetjie, on the evening of 26 April.
At 18:30, the footage shows a white sedan passing through the area, when a fully loaded bakke plummeted into the road just seconds later.
The bakkie hit the road nose-first, spilling its entire load across the road before rolling over once.
In the video, the driver can be seen being tossed around inside the cabin during the dramatic fall before the vehicle eventually came to a standstill.
Since being shared on social media, the footage has gained significant traction, particularly due to the driver’s composed exit from the wreckage.
Once the van landed back on its tyres on the damp road, the man quickly climbed out.
While he appeared visibly shaken by the ordeal, he seemed to have escaped without any injuries.
After briefly inspecting the damage and processing what just happened, the driver immediately moved to flag down an oncoming motorist to prevent another collision.
