How do you really tell if someone in South Africa has money?
According to South African content creator @drclaudiaskelton, there are telltale signs that a South African has money in 2026.
The content creator posted a two-part video in which she listed the hilarious signs that a South African has money.

Of course, this was all done in light-hearted humour that only South Africans will really understand.

Breakfast with Martin Bester asked listeners what they think the signs are that a South African is rich.
So, here are a few hilarious ways to tell if a South African is rich:
1. They fill their trolley
"If you're shopping at a grocery store and your trolley is full to the brim, you must be loaded. A full trolley in 2026? Oh, you must be joking. Like, do you really have to show off like that?" said the content creator.
2. They have solar panels or a generator at home
"You drive past a house and they have solar panels or they have a generator. Only shops or restaurants have generators. Someone's house? Imagine, bro, you have too much money."
3. Saying 'fill it up' at the petrol station
"They go to the petrol station and they say, 'Hey, fill it up please.' And they don't even check the price."
4. They only shop at Woolworths
"They only shop at Woolies. They won't even set foot in Pick n Pay or Boxer."

In a part two video, she also added: "They buy avos at Woolies. Like, I don't care how ripe and ready those avos are, I'm not paying R80 for two avos."
5. They have a gas stove
6. They have fancy fridges that make ice
7. They have the full DStv package
8. They wear gym clothes in the middle of the week
"They are the ones wearing gym clothes in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week. Where are you going? I'm definitely not going to work. Please, I also want to come."
9. Buying butter over margarine
"They don't buy Flora margarine, they buy butter. You know how expensive butter is nowadays?" she said.
10. They pay the extra R2 at KFC
