These Pretoria roads will be affected by a march on Monday

Motorists are being urged to use alternative routes on Monday, 6 October.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has issued a warning about several streets in Tshwane that will be affected by a planned march on Monday, 6 October.

According to the statement, the planned march by the organisation Soil of Africa will cause traffic disruptions in parts of the Pretoria CBD.

Motorists are urged to use alternative routes.

Soil of Africa is demanding that the Department of Home Affairs unblock the identity documents of South African citizens that have been blocked without a valid reason.

"The marchers will gather at the Old Putco Depot in Marabastad from 09:00 and proceed to the Department of Home Affairs Head Office," the statement said.

The route the marchers will follow:

From the gathering point, they will join Struben Street, turn right into Thabo Sehume Street, then turn right into Johannes Ramokhoase Street, and proceed until they reach their destination at the Department of Home Affairs Head Office.

Marchers are expected to disperse from the Department of Home Affairs Head Office at 2:00 pm.

The following streets will be affected:

  • Struben Street
  • Kgosi Mampuru Street
  • Sophie de Bruyn Street
  • Bosman Street
  • Paul Kruger Street
  • Thabo Sehume Street
  • Johannes Ramokhoase Street

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as:

  • Pretorius Street
  • Eskia Mphahlele Drive
  • Boom Street
  • Nelson Mandela Drive
  • Sisulu Street
  • Nana Sita Street
  • Francis Baard Street

The Tshwane Metro Police and South African Police Service officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.
