Unemployed mom wins R1 million on Jacaranda FM
Jacaranda FM and Goldrush changed several lives during the thrilling finale of the Goldrush Make Me A Millionaire competition.
After six weeks of cash calls, Golden Ticket qualifiers and exciting elimination rounds, Jacaranda FM welcomed a brand-new millionaire.
Kamogelo Qolosha, an unemployed single mother from the Eastern Cape, walked away with the R1 million grand prize during the Goldrush Make Me A Millionaire finale on Breakfast with Martin Bester.
Throughout the competition, Jacaranda FM listeners had the opportunity to win cash during the Goldrush Make Me A Millionaire Cash Call.
Registered Goldrush members could also qualify for a Golden Ticket, securing their place in the Amazing Rush and the chance to compete for the R1 million grand prize.
On Friday, 17 July, 60 Golden Ticket holders competed in the Amazing Rush Games at Goldrush Sandridge Square.
The field was reduced to 20 contestants, who continued competing at Goldrush Kolonnade the following day.
After several elimination rounds, only three finalists remained:
Kamogelo Qolosha, Hendrik ‘Franco’ Lubbe and Rayvern Coetzee.
During the Amazing Rush finale, each contestant was randomly allocated a box and given a unique code linked to it.
The three finalists entered their codes simultaneously, opening the boxes and revealing Kamogelo as Jacaranda FM’s newest millionaire.
The celebrations did not end there, as Franco and Rayvern each received R100,000.
In a remarkable act of generosity, Kamogelo also chose to give R100,000 of her winnings to Franco, whom she had partnered with during their journey to the final three.
Her selfless gesture was an emotional reminder that success is measured not only by what people achieve, but also by what they are willing to give to others.
