Evan's viral moment

One of the most famous is definitely the Afrikaans-English accent, which, for some reason, has become the go-to accent to represent white South Africans in Hollywood films.

Even within South Africa, the accent is one that truly stands out.

Jonk recently shared a TikTok video of himself trying to pronounce difficult English words.

"A lot of my friends say that when I speak English, you can hear the Afrikaans accent, but you know what, I'm going to prove you wrong," he said.

"Today I will be speaking like a lekker extinguished [not to be confused with distinguished] English gentleman," he added.

Evan then proceeded to tackle some of the hardest English words to pronounce, including:

  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Anemone
  • Colonel
  • Onomatopoeia
  • Squirrel
  • Pneumonia
  • Floccinaucinihilipilification

The outcome made for a hilarious, truly South African video that had many in stitches.
