WATCH: Kelly Clarkson finally performs most requested song during show finale
The American Idol winner and talk show host is one of the most talented performers out there, but this might just be her best work yet.
'Kellyoke' is a popular segment on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'.
In it, she covers well-known songs with the help of her house band, 'My Band Y'all'.
It's become an internet sensation and somewhat of a running joke that if Kelly Clarkson covers a musician's song, the original artist accepts defeat and will "never perform that song again".
Rolling Stone Magazine wrote: "There are some Clarkson covers that are arguably as good — if not better than — the originals."
Clarkson and her band put their own spin on the Kellyoke covers, making them not just unique but absolutely extraordinary.
From 'Mr Brightside' by The Killers to Ariana Grande's '7 Rings', Clarkson has covered songs from a wide variety of genres and isn't scared to try something different.
Performers also tend to choose popular or trending songs when singing a cover.
In 2025, no one expected a song from an animated movie would become one of the biggest hits of the year, and possibly even this decade.
The Netflix original movie 'Kpop Demon Hunters' features a fictional girl group called Huntr/x and an incredible soundtrack.
One song, 'Golden', quickly blew up on social media, and people were playing it on repeat.
In August of 2025, 'Golden' made music chart history by claiming the number one spot.
Huntr/x became the first girl group since Destiny's Child to reach #1 on the chart, and the first K-pop group in Billboard history to reach number one.
According to Billboard, 'Golden' is also the first IRL (in real-life) Hot 100 number one by any act with a fictional background since 'We Don’t Talk About Bruno' from the Disney movie 'Encanto' in February-March 2022.
It's hard to imagine anyone who hasn't heard the song yet, so it seems like the obvious choice for a cover.
Other artists have shared their versions of 'Golden', but everyone was waiting for one very specific singer to make it her own.
After waiting over a year, Kelly Clarkson has decided the time has come for her to perform 'Golden'.
On the final episode of her 'Kelly Clarkson Show', for her final Kellyoke performance, Clarkson took to the stage to give the people what they want by delivering one last unforgettable song.
The singer shared a video of her performance on social media and revealed in the caption that this has been "the most requested Kellyoke EVER!!"
Although Clarkson is beyond talented, many singers have spoken about how difficult this song is, and this could have been just another average cover.
However, nothing could have prepared anyone for this:
Kelly Clarkson didn't just nail this rendition; she also shocked everyone by singing it in its original key.
One comment explained: "Kelly Clarkson is the ONLY mainstream singer able to sing Golden on the original key 😭".
For those who don't know, this is extremely difficult and has even sparked many discussions on Reddit.
