WATCH: Shocking moment lion catches buck in backyard

Seeing a lion make a successful hunt is rare even in its natural habitat, but seeing it in someone's backyard seems almost impossible.
Latest Sightings, a platform that shares wildlife sightings online, recently shared a video of a female lion catching a nyala in the backyard of a lodge

"This nyala thought it was safe in a lodge’s backyard, but its safety quickly turned into a nightmare when, out of nowhere, a lion showed up," said Latest Sightings.
The video, taken from inside a unit at the lodge, shows the lion standing outside the backyard, looking around.
Moments after disappearing from the frame, the lion rushes into the backyard, revealing a nyala that had been hiding from the predator.
The nyala sped off and made a narrow escape, only to run straight into a fence around the backyard.
Unable to escape, the lion finally grabbed the nyala and walked off with its successful kill.

We can't help but wonder whether the animal would’ve survived had the fence not been there.
According to Latest Sightings, the moment was captured by Andre Fourie from Waterside Lodge.
