A South African woman has gone viral after her small act of kindness warmed the hearts of many social media users.

Vinisha Singh took to Facebook to share a picture of a Checkers Sixty60 driver standing in the rain at her home after delivering her Checkers order.

The man, dressed in his Checkers raincoat and trousers, was visibly wet from the rain.

The picture also shows him holding a cup of hot chocolate and a plate of biscuits, which Singh gave him as a small gesture of kindness.

“Compassion starts at our home,” she wrote in her post.

Instead of letting the man continue on his way in the cold, rainy weather, Singh took a moment to do something special for him.

“It's a rainy, cold day. Sixty60 guys riding in this weather to deliver our parcel. I made him a cup of hot chocolate and gave him biscuits.”

“He put his hands together and blessed me, saying, ‘I have done thousands of deliveries. You are the first person to offer me something,’” she wrote.

Singh also anticipated negative feedback about her decision to share her act of kindness online.

“This post is not for fame. It's to motivate others to be a bit compassionate to those out there who work in bad weather conditions to make our lives a bit easier.”

The woman, who lives in Brakpan on Gauteng’s East Rand according to her Facebook profile, also made it clear that the driver had asked her to take a picture to inspire others.

“Before the small-minded people get their knickers in a twist... the guy asked me to take a pic to inspire others! And inspire I did.”
