South Africans don't celebrate Thanksgiving, and sometimes, seeing all the delicious meals and fun family gatherings can give us a little bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) in November.

If you are looking for an excuse to host a dinner party or want to do a practice run ahead of Christmas, here are some strange and hilarious November holidays you can use.
November 8 - International Tongue Twister Day:- Tongue twisters offer these benefits: strengthen the muscles used for speech, which leads to more precise pronunciation and speech patterns, highlight which sounds are complex for you to say so that you can work on those sounds, and are a great warmup exercise before giving a speech, teaching a class, or doing a presentation.
- Most difficult tongue twister: "The sixth sick sheikh's sixth sheep's sick.”
- According to MIT researchers, another is, “Pad kid poured curd pulled cod."

November 8 - Abet And Aid Punsters Day:
- Though there is no real proof of when and how Abet and Aid Punsters Day came about, enthusiasts believe that the day might have originated in the 1970s.
- Abet and Aid Punsters Day was created with the simple aim of sharing jokes and laughing together.
- Punsters hope that everyone will join in the celebrations and forget their worries for a day.

November 13 - World Kindness Day (Pretty self-explanatory.)
November 13 - Sadie Hawkins Day:
- A day for a bit of gender role reversal, where women ask men out on dates or for a dance.
- The tradition stems from a plot line in American cartoonist Al Capp’s (1909-1979) comic strip, 'Li’l Abner'. The story — one reviled by modern feminists — involved a rich man’s daughter named Sadie Hawkins in the fictional town of Dogpatch, Kentucky, who was so ‘homely’ that she was still unmarried at 35. Her worried father then gathered all the bachelors of the town together and set up a sort of race, with the men running ahead of Sadie. The one she finally caught would have to marry her.

November 14 - Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day:
- LULU Day was created by Stephanie West Allen, giving us a day to take a break from all our stress and troubles, especially when you feel like you're hanging on by a thread towards the end of the year.

November 15 - Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day:
- A day that encourages you to prepare for the upcoming holidays (and throw out the suspicious container in the back that's been there since last December.)
- Get together a soap and hot water-filled bucket, disinfectant, a sponge, and a garbage bag. Then you will be ready for the day!

November 15 - National Bundt Day:
- A day to honour the cake with the hole in the middle.
- The holiday was created by renowned bundt pan purveyors Nordic Ware to celebrate their 60th anniversary in 2006.

November 15 - George Spelvin Day:
- George and Georgina/Georgette Spelvin aren’t real people.
