2025 Matric results: Official release dates and more you need to know

It's getting closer to that time of year. Here's everything you need to know about the 2025 Matric Results release.

The start of a new year can be stressful for various reasons.

No matter how hard you Decembered, if you’re a matriculant, a parent, a sibling, or just someone who gets emotionally invested in these things, then you are counting down the days until this big reveal.

It’s officially time for the Matric Class of 2025 to say the final goodbye to their young school lives as the matric results are set to be released in January 2026.

When will the results be announced?

  • The Minister of Basic Education, Ms Siviwe Gwarube, will announce the national results on 12 January 2026.
  • This is the big day when Minister Gwarube will review percentages, national pass rates, and the top-performing students of Matric 2025.
  • And don't forget about the High Court ruling on 12 December 2025, confirming that matric results may once again be published on public platforms.

When can students access their results?

Matriculants will be able to access their individual results from 13 January 2026.

You can get your results in two ways:

  • From your school or exam centre (this is highly recommended)
  • Online from 6 am on 13 January 2026

Important: Some results may not be available immediately due to technical issues. Don’t panic, this is normal (unfortunately).

Very important admin stuff

  • When you receive your Statement of Results, double-check your nameyour surname and your ID number
  • If anything appears to be incorrect, report it to the Department by February 20, 2026.

It cannot be stressed enough how important this is for future-you.

What to do if you have a query about your results

  • If something doesn’t feel right, you can submit a result query.
  • Queries must be submitted within 30 days of the results being released.
Don’t wait. Don’t procrastinate. This is not a dentist appointment you don't want to go to.

Re-mark & Re-check: How it works

If you believe your mark deserves another review, you can apply for an exam remark or recheck.

Application dates

Applications open on January 13, 2026, and close on January 27, 2026.

You can apply:

  • At your school
  • At your district office
  • Online via www.eservices.gov.za

All the instructions are on the back of your Statement of Results.

Fees per subject

  • Re-mark: R120
  • Re-check: R30

Viewing your exam script

You can also view your script after a re-mark or re-check.

  • Viewing fee: R230
  • Closing date: 7 days after the re-mark/re-check results are released.

When will the re-mark results be released?

  • Re-marking results will be available from 13 March 2026.
  • You can collect them from the same school or exam centre where you wrote your exams.

This is a big day for the matriculants, their family and everyone who has supported them along the way.

There will be many emotions, happiness, relief, disappointment, but remember this:

You are more than your result. 

You have done a fantastic job making it this far, and know that you still have a long life ahead of you.
