Iconic South African attraction ranked amongst top in the world

South Africans will be the first to tell you how beautiful our country is, but we feel even prouder when others realise it, too.
Train travel has become a very popular option over the last few years.
Instead of being stuck in a plane, travellers want to see their surroundings, and for those looking to explore the world at a slower pace, it's the perfect form of travel transport.
While South Africa's public transport is severely lacking compared to many other countries, one mode of transport stands out above the rest.
South Africa's Blue Train is an esteemed and renowned experience.
The two-night journey, spanning approximately 31 hours and covering 1,600 kilometres between Pretoria and Cape Town, has captivated travellers to the point that demand far exceeds availability.
The Blue Train currently carries a waitlist of two years, a testament to its reputation as one of the most sought-after rail experiences in the world.
Now, a study has proven that the highly in-demand journey is even more justified.
Travel insurance specialist InsuranceAndGo conducted a survey to determine which train routes offer the most eye-catching, breathtaking views.
The study used eye-tracking technology to determine which train journeys around the world produce the most compelling visual experiences.
Participants were shown images of iconic views from routes across the globe, and researchers tracked both how quickly their eyes were drawn to the scenery and how long they lingered on it.
These results were combined into a weighted eye-catching score, rated out of 100.
The Blue Train received a score of 75.5 out of 100, putting it in the 14th spot, holding its own amongst some of the most celebrated railway journeys worldwide.
The top 15 include routes from Japan and Switzerland to Scotland and Taiwan.
Here are the world’s top 15 most eye-catching train journeys
