These jobs also do not require applicants to have experience or qualifications.

The analysis highlighted the following findings:

  • There is fierce competition for jobs with low barriers to entry in terms of experience and qualifications.
  • High levels of competition and low availability for jobs that require lower levels of experience and education. (Affects roles in finance, sales, logistics, and administration.)
  • A healthy demand for skills in sectors such as healthcare, finance, and IT.
  • Demand for many specialist roles in engineering, finance, and IT appears to continue surpassing the availability of skills for the foreseeable future.

According to Pnet's data, some jobs that require only low levels of experience and educational background include call centre operators and sales representatives/consultants.

Sales representatives and consultants remain in high demand, despite increased competition.

Jobs that require low-level experience, but possibly high levels of education: payroll &wages, artisans, sales account managers, product managers, nurses, and pharmacists.

Bates adds that those looking to be successful in the job market in 2026 cannot only rely on demand but also need to focus on how effectively candidates are positioning themselves.

Candidates need a well-maintained job profile with an up-to-date work history and clearly listed skills, as this will significantly improve a jobseeker’s chances of being seen for relevant roles and their ability to negotiate the best possible offers.

BusinessTech compiled the table below, which shows typical job roles, required education, necessary experience, and the availability and competition associated with each role.
