Melrose Arch brings the Bafana Bafana fever to Johannesburg
Updated | By Jacaranda FM/ Time Out Johannesburg
With giant screens, electric crowds, and a proudly South African atmosphere, Melrose Arch is set to be the place to experience the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Johannesburg.
While the tournament officially kicks off in North America today, football fans in Johannesburg won't miss a moment of the action.
Renowned for hosting major sporting events, Melrose Arch will transform into a vibrant fan park for the opening ceremony and opening match, where Bafana Bafana faces Mexico on 11 June.

The Main Piazza will accommodate around 500 supporters, while an additional 250 seats will be available at The Square, creating an immersive match-day experience that will make fans feel as though they're right inside the stadium.
Families are in for a treat, too, with a special appearance by Minions characters James and Henry.
Whether their yellow colour is a subtle nod to Bafana Bafana's famous kit is up for debate - but fans can draw their own conclusions.
Even better, attendance is completely free.
