Most acclaimed thriller writer says Netflix hit has 'best line of the year'
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Getting the King of Horror's stamp of approval is not easy...
Stephen King is undoubtedly one of the best authors the world has ever seen, especially in his genre.
King didn't get his nickname for nothing.
As with all legends, any criticism or praise from King hits harder and means more than any comment made by your friends or family.
The writer is also very selective with his public endorsements and rarely shares his opinions on entertainment content, but when he does, everyone takes note.
That's why many fans were surprised by his latest comments about a Netflix movie.
Netflix recently released a new movie, 'Thrash', which has received slightly mixed reviews.
The streaming service describes the movie as a new film that "may be fiction, but it’s anything but fantasy."
The 'Thrash' synopsis reads: "When a catastrophic hurricane slams a coastal town, stranded residents must survive rapidly rising waters swarming with ravenous sharks."
One viewer seemed to capture the premise perfectly with their review:
Ha ha ha. Just watched that last night.

What a movie 😂
Cross between Jaws & Sharknado
While some put the movie more towards the 'Sharknado' end of the scale than the 'Jaws' side, Stephen King said one moment from the movie truly stood out for him.
And considering this compliment is coming from one of the most revered authors, the 'Thrash' script writers should be proud.

THRASH (Netflix): Best line of the year (so far): "Mommy's got to fight some fucking sharks."

King isn't the only one who enjoyed this line, as it's quickly become a meme on social media.
The movie has also achieved immediate success after its release on 10 April, and was the number one on the English film list last week with 37,7 million views.
At the time of writing, it is still at the top spot.
The cast includes 'Bridgerton' season one star Phoebe Dynevor as the lead, Whitney Peak ('Gossip Girl', 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina'), Djimon Hounsou ('Gladiator', 'Blood Diamond') and Alyla Browne ('Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga', 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3').
