Plastic surgery has always been a divisive topic and somewhat taboo.

Some people are of the opinion that it's your life, and you can do whatever you want to your body, while others believe you shouldn't be messing with those kinds of things.

Nobody is here to tell you what to do, but there have been many plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures that have become trendy over the years

Women have always been at the centre of these conversations, but now more men are opening up and being honest about the work they get done.

Social media trends such as looksmaxxing and certain “aesthetics” have led to doctors seeing an increase in certain procedures.

A 2025 report from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) found that 92% of plastic surgeons treat male patients.

Dr Clifford P. Clark III, board-certified plastic surgeon and medical director of Clark Institute for Aesthetics, says men are getting cosmetic work done for personal and professional reasons.

Here are the most popular cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures for men, according to plastic surgeons.

1. Derma Fillers

Dr Claudia Kim, a board-certified plastic surgeon and chief medical officer at New Look New Life Cosmetic Surgery in New York City, tells HuffPost that this is a very popular choice for subtle jawline definition, chin enhancement, and under-eye hollowing.

Fullness under the chin and loss of definition can often bother men, and fillers deliver “conservative” results without seeming obvious.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr Sean Doherty also explains that men look to improve rather than remove signs of ageing.

2. Neuromodulators (Botox)

Used specifically for:

  • Forehead
  • Frown lines
  • Crows feet

This is often the first procedure men try when dipping their toes into cosmetic and plastic surgery.

It doesn’t require downtime, is quick, and yields subtle results.

Botox is especially common amongst men in their late 20s to mid-30s, trying to get a leg up on ageing.

“Men are starting treatments earlier to maintain their appearance rather than waiting until concerns feel severe,” Dr Kim said.

3. Body Contouring

According to Dr Kim, the body contouring procedure is popular amongst those who are fit but struggle to lose stubborn fat deposits around their abdomen and flanks.

The abdomen, in particular, is a common concern when men find that no matter the diet or exercise regimen, nothing seems to change.

Younger men are increasingly interested in this procedure, along with high-definition liposuction, and advances in fat grafting allow for more natural-looking and dramatic definition.

4. Neck Lift Surgery

This one is pretty self-explanatory and is not too unexpected.

Men want sharp, defined and clear jawlines, which makes the neck lift (removal of excess skin and fat under the chin) an obvious choice.

  • Young men can easily get away with liposuction and chin augmentation.
  • Men in their 40s restore a defined, strong jawline through a neck lift.

5. Blepharoplasty

A more specific, less well-known surgery is blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery.

While many people might not even know this type of procedure is available, demand has increased among men, especially for upper blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery).

The surgery removes excess drooping or stretchy skin from the eyelids, making people look more alert and rested.

6. Gynecomastia Surgery (Chest Sculpting Surgery)

Dr Doherty has seen men of different ages choose this as their first treatment.

The surgery reduces excess breast tissue and is essentially a type of chest contouring/sculpting.

Most men are very conscious of their chest, and it plays a big part in their self-image.
