It got us thinking... what is the most common fast food in South Africa.
According to The South African and BusinessTech, it turns out, half of us grown-ups, about 23.4 million, have grabbed a quick bite over the past year.

And of those, around 20 million popped into a fast-food spot in July 2025.
What’s at the top of the 'favourites' list?
A whopping 90% of them hit one of the top 10 chains.

So, what's the most popular fast food of choice in South Africa, according to BusinessTech?

An institution that made the list is the proudly South African restaurant, Spur.
The popular family restaurant has been a long-time favourite for many South Africans, but over the years, the food chain has been closing many of its branches.

According to BusinessTech and News24, the Spur Corporation has announced that its Seven Spur in Sea Point will close its glorious streak in August 2025 after serving customers for 56 years.
