Legendary pop star arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence

According to various sources, the singer was arrested on Wednesday, 4 March.
It’s no secret that Britney Spears has been making headlines in tabloids since she first appeared on the music scene.

After the release of her iconic hit “…Baby One More Time” in 1998, she shot to fame and quickly became one of the most famous pop stars in history.
Unfortunately, as we have often seen with young superstars, she was adored but also targeted and scrutinised by the public and every kind of media outlet.

Now, the somewhat troubled star has reportedly been arrested in Westlake Village, Los Angeles, by the California Highway Patrol.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Spears (44) was pulled over by the CHP around 9 pm on Wednesday while driving a black BMW 430i.

The CHP said that dispatchers received multiple reports of a car driving erratically at a high rate of speed southbound on 101 Freeway near Borchard Road exit in Newbury Park.”
After they had stopped her, they saw that she was alone in the car and “showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests,” after which she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

It is suspected that she was under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s online reports show that Spears was booked around 3 am Thursday, her car was impounded, and she was released just after 6 am.

A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that her blood was drawn at Los Robles Medical Centre, and CHP officials said chemical tests were pending.
A substance was also found in the car on Wednesday evening, and the car was again searched on Thursday morning.

The singer has not yet addressed the incident, but her representative has shared a statement with the Los Angeles Times.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully, this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the support she needs during this difficult time.
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

Luckily, no one was injured, and a hearing date has been set for May 4 when the star is set to appear in Ventura County Superior Court.
