Tributes have been pouring in following the news of his death.
Jacaranda FM's own Rozanne McKenzie opened up about the role Von Memerty played in her life during an emotional on-air moment:
She also shared a picture with Ian on Instagram, accompanied by a heartfelt caption: "20 years ago, someone took a chance on me. It changed my life. Everything that has happened to me subsequently is because of this guy. You could never know how grateful I am to you, Ian von Memerty. You will be missed. Rest now. THANK YOU. "
'Dying For A Better Life'
Von Memerty has been sharing videos on Facebook and YouTube throughout February as part of a digital series titled 'Dying for a Better Life'.
Some of the videos in the series were published posthumously.

In the videos, he explained his choice to end his life on his own terms. Driven by a desire for autonomy, he selected a date for his passing, which he kept private.
In the final weeks of his life, he spoke openly about his decision, saying that fears of no longer being able to work, financial stress, dependency on relatives, and facing a version of old age he did not wish to experience all contributed to his choice.

He further noted that witnessing the prolonged and difficult deaths of his parents was a central factor in his decision.
While acknowledging that some would use the term suicide, he strongly disagreed with the label. For the South African entertainer, "self-deliverance" was a more accurate reflection of his preparation, agency and the opportunity to provide closure.
Von Memerty is survived by his wife, Vivian, and their children, Oscar and Kasvia.
