The start of the year isn’t just about New Year’s resolutions – it’s also the kickoff to one of the most glamorous and highly anticipated times of the year: award season.

Award season is a dazzling spectacle that brings fans, critics, industry peers, and nominees together to celebrate the best in film, music, and television. 

And there's a lot to look forward to: stars get to shine on red carpets, and acceptance speeches go viral because of how heartwarming (or hilarious) they are.

The 83rd Golden Globe Awards took place on January 11, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

While stars are hoping to walk away with an award, or at least the most luxurious goodie bag, they also get the best of the best during the award show.

This year, the Golden Globes menu made headlines as social media users were divided on the meal.

Some called it a "bold choice", while others said it looked like an "airplane meal".

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is a world-renowned chef, restaurateur and the man behind every celebrity's favourite seafood restaurant, Nobu.

This is his third year as the official chef for the awards ceremony, and his menu included an array of signature dishes, such as:

  • Caviar Tacos and Miso Black Cod
  • Yellowtail Jalapeno
  • Sashimi Salad with Matsuhisa Dressing
  • Tuna Nigiri Brushed with Nikiri Soy.

While this menu sounds like heaven for seafood and sushi lovers, when New York Times writer Kyle Buchanan uploaded a picture of the meal, social media users were underwhelmed.

One user did not hold back commenting: "‘Nobu’ (Powered by Ozempic)."

Others made very valid points about the ingredients, saying, "Bold choice as the only menu option for 1500 people. I hope the ones not into raw fish brought a sandwich."

But not to worry, Buchanan shared another post that did clear up some confusion:
