Can you spot the difference?
When you go on safari to places like the Kruger National Park, you are not guaranteed that your luck will be in.

The reality is that you can drive for hours and see very little, with the odd impala breaking the cycle of bush after bush.
While many will tell you that going to the Kruger or any game park is not solely about the animals, as the birds, flora, and general ambience are just as incredible to witness, all visitors want to see the Big 5 and the other incredible creatures lurking in the bushveld.

There is no harm in that - that's why it is such an exciting place to visit, you never know what you will encounter...
Over the years, many incredible sightings have been captured on camera. Does anyone remember 'The Battle of Kruger'?
One Kruger National Park tourist recently shared a picture of a very unique sighting.

Taahir Mungalee posted two pictures of a special giraffe that has captured the attention of many.
Even if you have never seen a real giraffe, you can tell this one is different from the others, and it's not Photoshopped.

Have a look at this giraffe's distinctive spots:
Why is this giraffe's appearance so different from other SA giraffes?
Simply because it isn't a South African giraffe at all!

If you didn't know, there are four different species of giraffe:
- Masai giraffe (Giraffa tippelskirchi)
- Reticulated giraffe (Giraffa reticulata)
- Northern giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis)
- Southern giraffe (Giraffa giraffa)
The Southern giraffe has two subspecies: South African giraffe (G. g. giraffa) and Angolan giraffe (G. g. angolensis).
The Northern giraffe has three subspecies: Kordofan giraffe (G. c. antiquorum), Nubian giraffe (G. c. camelopardalis) and West African giraffe (G. c. peralta).

They all have different spot patterns!
As it turns out, the one seen in the Kruger National Park is a Masai giraffe.

Facebook users had a lot to say in the comments, as many identified the non-native animal:

- "It might be a Maasai which hitchhiked to Southern Africa".
