Why people in China are changing their profile pictures to Kris Jenner
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Social media users in China have found a new good-luck charm – Kris Jenner.
The internet has always been a strange place, and the latest trend among people in China proves just how absurd it can get.
Many social media users in China have started sharing pictures of the world’s most famous “momager”, Kris Jenner, specifically changing their profile pictures and screen wallpapers to images of her.
The trend has been seen across Chinese platforms like Weibo, Xiaohongshu (RedNote) and Douyin.
Changing your profile picture or wallpaper is supposed to be a way of manifesting wealth and success, as Jenner, the mother behind the massively successful Kardashian clan, is often viewed as the epitome of success.
Many of the images of the global reality star are also digitally transformed to represent a CEO in a suit, a doctor in a white coat, or a PhD student in a graduation gown.
According to NBC News, these images are also often overlaid with dollar bills.
Many of the images are shared with captions that can be translated to “Let’s manifest” or “Keep rich, stay slay”, along with a hashtag that translates to #KrisJennerManifestation.

NBC News also reported that this playful trend has taken over Chinese social media amid an extremely competitive job market and slowing economic growth.
Chinese influencer Marcelo Wang, who teaches international audiences how to say popular phrases and slang in Mandarin, said the trend is growing “because Kris Jenner is one of the hardest-working businesswomen in the US, and Chinese people really respect hard work”.
Jenner, who is reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars, also responded to the trend.
“You’re ALL doing amazing, sweetie!!!!” she commented on one of Wang’s social media videos, in reference to her catchphrase from the family’s reality shows.
