Last week, Woolworths faced two separate security incidents at its Pretoria and Bloemfontein stores, located in Menlyn Park and Preller Square.
The retailer confirmed that “improvised explosive devices” were detonated in both stores during the early morning hours, between 1:00 and 2:00 am.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) conducted immediate sweeps, and the Hawks have launched an investigation.

Woolworths has since heightened security across all its stores and engaged specialist forensic experts to bolster safety measures and intelligence, complementing the ongoing work of the authorities.
Over the weekend, the retailer called in an especially adorable team to assist nationwide: professional K9 units.
These highly trained service dogs conducted thorough sweeps of stores, ensuring the safety of both staff and shoppers.
