The home offers a safe, loving environment for 23 people who face mental challenges.

BACKGROUND:   Ebenezer House is a facility in Witpoortjie, where a home is given to people with psychiatric challenges like schizophrenia and Bipolar. Residents are encouraged to help themselves and work as far as possible. Currently three residents are in sheltered employment. The home receives a government grant, but has been informed that no grants will be paid until June. The home usually organises fundraisers to supplement their income, when government grants are not forthcoming - and they had their annual cycle challenge planned. However, the lockdown and social distancing has made this impossible. The home has put a plea for assistance on Facebook, but they are still over R60 000,00 short for April. The daughter of one of these residents, Olivia Hingley reached out to Good Morning Angels for assistance.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Good Morning,

Ebenezer House is a NGO for people with psychiatric problems like Bipolar etc. They home these functional people and give them a home to keep them off the streets. They need help urgently please see message below from the home.

Dear family. Ebenezer must come up with  R73 000 for April as our charity race that we were depending on had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus. This is a huge problem as the Dept of Health has notified all the ngo's that they will only pay us in June.  So far we have had 3 donations totalling R10 400. We still short of R67 000. Ebenezer always puts our residents first and will continue doing so, but we urgently need your help. If you can help us it will be highly appreciated.  Pls use coronavirus fund as your reference. Kind regards Charmaine Hennings Director Ebenezer House
