Good Morning Angels: A community of Angels come together for two teens orphaned by crime

The Good Morning Angels Festive Edition 2022 with Roman's Pizza continues as the Angels come together to help two brothers orphaned by a tragic incident.

Good Morning Angels - Sharron
Jacaranda FM

BACKGROUND:  In the early hours of Saturday, 8 October, a house robbery ended in tragedy for a small family from Wilgeheuwel on the West Rand. Dad and widower, Sean Crotty, and his two sons, Tristan (15) and Blayden (17), were sleeping when armed robbers entered their townhouse. The complex boundary security fence was down amid loadshedding. Sean was shot and killed by the robbers, who made off with two cell phones.

The boys were left orphaned, as they lost their mom to suicide 12 years earlier.

It was a financial struggle, but Sean did his best to provide for his sons who, despite their loss, are hardworking, diligent students. Sean was buried the day after one of the boys won an academic school award. His dad was not there to share this achievement.

The boys are now in the care of Sean’s sister, Shannon, her husband, Greg, and their daughter, who is writing matric final exams this year. A group of moms at their school have sent out a plea for assistance for this new family, who has to pick up the pieces and make a new life amid the tragedy and immense loss.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Hi Martin & Angels team

Please see if you can help these boys, father was shot on Saturday due to armed robbery defending his family. Brayden goes to the same school as our kids.

My friend, Yoshini and I hope you can help, with school fees or groceries or something.

A tragic loss for 2 young boys, aged 15 and 17. Tristan and Blayden lost their mom 12 years ago, and now have to also face the reality of living without their father who was murdered this weekend Saturday the 8th of October, in a townhouse complex in Wilgeheuwel, for 2 cell phones!!!! Sean Crotty was shot and killed defending his home and children on Saturday morning at 3h30am during loadshedding, as his complex was not able to run the electric fencing on the boundary wall. The reality now is that Tristan and Blayden have lost BOTH parents, and we are calling on our fellow communities to please help the family support them. Their aunt, Sean's sister, Shannon van Coller and her husband Greg will take care of them, and we are reaching out for your support and love to assist them where you can. Sean was in no position to pay for any form of life policies and was struggling to make ends meet as it was (the irony that they stole from someone who struggled ) It is Tristan's birthday this week as well. Blayden received an award at school -  through all this tragedy he came 7th in his grade and the father wasn't there to share this. In fact, his father was buried the day after the school award ceremony.

Any donations for the boys would be greatly appreciated. Please share far and wide, we really need these boys to know they are loved. Us South Africans need to stick together, as we are all we have. Feel free to corroborate detail with DMS in that this is a legitimate plea. Any donations and sponsorships that you would like to contribute please contact Shannon.

Kind regards,

Sharmaine and Yoshini
