Dad takes son on weeklong trip to teach him valuable lessons
Updated | By Poelano Malema
For this one dad, Pu Wei- the first Chinese man from Shaanxi to have conquered Mount Everest, teaching his son about survival meant taking him on a week-long trip with only $15 (about R220) to spend for the week, Mashable reported.
The two reportedly went on a seven-day trip from Xi'an, China, to Lanzhou. "Dou Ge is naturally curious, and every day during this trip, whenever I see how excited he is to discover new things, it pushes me forward to go on with the trip," Wei told the publication. The two reportedly walked on foot or hitchhiked to complete a distance of 600km.
One of the lessons the eight-year-old son had to learn was that nothing comes for free in life. You need to work hard to get what you need to survive. For him, this meant doing hard labour in exchange for a roof over his head and food while on the tour.
