SA man discharged from hospital following six-month recovery from COVID-19

After six months in hospital, Ally Khan was discharged from hospital after recovering from COVID-19.
The latest data from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) shows that the total coronavirus-related fatalities have now breached the 60,000 mark, standing at 61,029.
There have been 21,584 new COVID-19 cases reported across the country in the latest 24-hour period.

Gauteng reported yet another record high of 12,806 new cases.
These numbers are increasing and more people are testing positive due to the new Delta variant. The Delta variant is more contagious, which means more serious illnesses and more deaths.
While healthcare workers work endless hours to take care of sick patients, they also get to celebrate those who had a hard time.

After 166 days in the hospital, 164 of which were spent in ICU, Orient Heights resident, Ally Khan, finally went home on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old is thought to have contracted COVID-19 sometime before January 12, despite he and his wife, Rahouda, maintaining strict health and safety protocols.
Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers celebrated Khan's recovery and shared the special moment on social media.
